To all residents at The Sequoias, Portola Valley:

Your attention is called to the attached draft that has has been prepared
by an Ad Hoc Committee under the direction of the Residents' Council.
This document describes a proposed Portola Valley Sequoias Pooled-Income
Trust Fund that has been suggested as a mechanism that would allow the
residents of The Sequoias and others to make gifts to The Sequoias while
retaining a life interest in the income derived from the property.  This
idea has already been brought to the attention of the Directors of the
NCPH and they are in favor of its implementation.

It is the feeling of the committee that the residents of The Sequoias
should be given the opportunity of reviewing this draft and of commenting
on it before it is submitted to the Board of Directors of the NCPH for
their final consideration.  The committee is particularly desirous of
presenting a balanced view of the advantages of such a giving plan, for
those of our residents that have the resources and the inclination to make
such gifts, without, in any way, coercing or embarrassing those residents
who are unable or unwilling to make such gifts.

We are anxious to get a feeling for the kind of response that the plan
might receive since there would some costs involved in setting up the
Pooled-Income Fund.  Depending upon the comments that are received as a
result of the circulation of this draft, a meeting of interested residents
may be held at a later date to discuss the matter.
